Emily Simpson, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at East Central University. She received her bachelor’s degree from Sewanee: the University of the South, her master’s degree from Wake Forest, and her PhD in Human Development and Family Sciences from the University of Connecticut. Before joining ³ÉÈËBÕ¾, she also worked as a T32 Prevention and Methodology Postdoctoral at PennState. Her research has developmental and methodological arms. First, she studies psychosocial adjustment in adolescence & emerging adulthood with a focus on 1) internalizing symptoms and substance use in context, 2) social media use and other risk factors, and 3) early intervention & prevention to support development. Additionally, she also utilizes her advanced methodological training to explore transactional models and person-centered methodologies, including latent class analysis (LCA) and panel models, as advanced methodological tools to understand youth psychosocial adjustment in context.&²Ô²ú²õ±è;​
