Chickasaw Composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate鈥檚 works will be performed at East Central University at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center. Tate will be performing with the University of Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra with Conductor Jonathan Shames.
鈥淐lans鈥 from Tate鈥檚 鈥淟owak Shoppala鈥欌 (Fire and Light) is a work expressing Chickasaw identity through the medium of modern classical music and theatre.
Tate鈥檚 works were also played at 成人B站 by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic in April 2022. At that performance, 鈥淕host of the White Deer鈥 was performed.
Other pieces on the program include Zolt谩n Kod谩ly鈥檚 鈥淒ances of Gal谩nta,鈥 Maurice Ravel鈥檚 鈥淧avane for a Dead Princess,鈥 and a suite from 鈥淭he Miraculous Mandarin鈥 by B茅la Bart贸k.
The concert is free and open to the public.
