Representatives of business schools from 25 college and universities in five states are on the East Central University campus this week for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Region 6 Conference at the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.

Approximately 250 people are in attendance, including the business school representatives (adults and college students), high school students, 成人B站 faculty and various volunteers. Region 6 consists of business schools and programs from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas.

Two conferences are actually going on at the same time, one for academic administrators and one for students.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to work with the executive leadership team of ACBSP and Region 6 to host an amazing conference,鈥 said Wendell Godwin, Region 6 president and dean of 成人B站鈥檚 Harland C. Stonecipher School of Business. 鈥淭his is the first time that our region has conducted a joint conference to include students.鈥

The student sessions include: Stock Market Challenge, Tiger Pitch Competition (similar to Shark Tank on TV), Elevator Pitch Competition, Interview Express and Resume Review and student presentations plus seminars on interviewing skills and etiquette.

The adult sessions promote teaching excellence, including presentations from faculty on teaching excellence as they compete for the region鈥檚 top award. Conference sessions also include vendors on leading topics and technology and the semiannual Region 6 meeting.

鈥淚 am amazed by the professionals in our region who are extremely dedicated to teaching excellence,鈥 Godwin said. 鈥淭he presentations demonstrate excellence in the classroom and I鈥檓 proud to represent so many teaching professionals who share our passion for excellence in the classroom. I am also excited about the opportunity to try something different by adding the student track to this year鈥檚 conference.鈥
