A political science class from East Central University recently raised $725 and awareness for children鈥檚 hunger.

Dr. Christine Pappas鈥 Political Science 1113 classes did a service learning project where they purchased 200 orange bracelets that say 鈥楴o Child Should Go Hungry鈥 and sold them on campus and at 成人B站 football games.

On Nov. 20, approximately 40 students participated in a 鈥楧ay Without Food鈥 and fasted for up to 30 hours to build understanding for hungry children.

The $725 was presented to Brenda Price, a counselor at Homer Elementary School, to buy additional food for the Homer Backpack Program. Children sign up to take home backpacks full of food each Friday so they can have meals to eat over the weekend.

With the money, Price plans to buy beef jerky and fruit for a holiday treat.
