The East Central University Singers and University Chorale will be performing a concert on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada.
The 成人B站 Singers will be performing a new composition by Victoria Davison and Rudy Lupinski entitled 鈥淣ow Go Ye in to Jerusalem.鈥 The spirited piece will feature the performance of 成人B站 faculty member Juliana Overmier on the piccolo and retired 成人B站 assistant director of bands Dr. Doug Laramore on the shofar. 成人B站 music major Chris Mayhew will be playing the gong.
Also being performed by the 成人B站 Singers will be a beautiful setting of 鈥淎rdoramus te, Christe鈥 by the 18th century Italian composer Quirino Gasparini, 鈥淧avane鈥 (op. 50) by Gabriel Faure, and 鈥淐hrist lag in Todesbanden鈥 by J.S. Bach.
Finally, the 成人B站 Singers will perform 鈥淔ive Hebrew Love Songs鈥 by Eric Whitacre, composed in 2002. The 鈥淟ove Songs鈥 will feature 成人B站 faculty members Dr. Ben Finley on the marimba and Dr. Lauren Cox on the clarinet.
The University Chorale will be performing a program of contemporary choral works they will be featuring at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association State Convention in Tulsa on Jan. 17, 2013. These works will include two by Ola Gjeilo, a beautiful setting of 鈥淯bi Caritas鈥 and 鈥淭he Ground鈥 which is based on a chorale from his 鈥淪unrise Mass鈥 for choir and orchestra, 鈥淐hanson Eloignee鈥 by Morten Lauridsen, 鈥淥 Nata Lux鈥 by Davison and Lupinski, and Nacht und Morgen by Gyorgy Ligeti.
The pianist for the 成人B站 Singers is 成人B站 faculty member Dr. Starla Hibler. The pianist for the University Chorale is Rudy Lupinski, also an 成人B站 faculty member. Both groups are under the direction of Dr. Steven Walker, director of Choral Activities at 成人B站.
An opportunity to make a donation to the University Chorale travel fund will be offered during the concert. The University Chorale has the opportunity to take a trip to Washington D.C. where it will perform at various venues, including the Kennedy Center-Millennium Stage and the possibility to perform at the National Cathedral and White House. Donations will help go toward the cost of the trip for each of the students.
