Based on one audience suggestion, The Improvised Shakespeare Co. creates a fully improvised play in Elizabethan style. Each of the players has brushed up on his 鈥渢hees鈥 and 鈥渢hous鈥 to bring you an evening of hilarity in the Shakespearean style.
Any hour could be filled with power struggles, star-crossed lovers, sprites, kings, queens, princesses, sword-play, rhyming couplets, asides, insults, persons in disguise and all that we鈥檝e come to expect from the pen of the Great Bard. The night could reveal a tragedy, comedy, or history. Nothing is planned out, rehearsed, or written. Each play is completely improvised, so each play is entirely new.
Founded in 2005 by Blaine Swen, The Improvised Shakespeare Co. has played to sold out houses in Chicago and has currently found itself on the road, including a trip to the Piccolo Spoleto Fringe Festival in Charleston, S.C., where The ISC was reviewed as one of the top shows in the festival. The group also frequents New York City performing limited engagements Off-Broadway where stars from SNL, Mad TV and The Office have been seen watching the show in amazement.
Those who want to make it a dinner-and-show night can present their season ticket patron card and receive a 10 percent discount at Blue Moon Caf茅, Chili鈥檚 Bar and Grill, Rib Crib, Santa Fe Cattle Co., and Vintage 22 on the night of the performance.
