Serbian pianist Milica Jela膷a Jovanovi膰 will perform Saturday [MARCH 5] at East Central University in the 成人B站 Piano Series sponsored by 成人B站鈥檚 Music Department. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

Both the concert and a master class she will conduct for 成人B站 piano majors are free and open to the public. The master class will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday [MARCH 4] in Faust Auditorium.
Born into a family of accomplished musicians in Belgrade, Serbia, Jela膷a Jovanovi膰 began giving recitals at the age of 8. She has concertized as a solo recitalist and chamber musician in the United States, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Serbia and the United Kingdom. She also has been an associate professor of piano and coordinator of the keyboard area at Western Washington University, Bellingham, Wash., since 2004.
Besides winning numerous Serbian and Yugoslavian national piano competitions, Jela膷a Jovanovi膰 won prizes at several international competitions, including at the inaugural 2005 Iowa International Piano Competition and the first prize at the 23rd Bart贸k-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition in Virginia in 2003.
Following her studies in Belgrade, Jela膷a Jovanovi膰 earned her master of music degree and artist diploma at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow and her doctorate in piano performance at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
